Ajay Devgn has produced a Marathi film directed by Satish Rajwade, the actor announced on Sunday. Titled Aapla Manus, the movie stars Nana Patekar, Iravati Harshe and Sumeet Raghavan and will be released on February 9, 2018.
An experienced actor and director, Rajwade has directed many box office hits, including Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai (2010) and its sequel (2015), Premachi Goshta (2013) and Ti Saddhya Kay Karte (2017).
Devgn’s upcoming films include a Hindi-language biopic of Tanaji Malusare, the seventeenth-century warrior who is said to have won the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 by scaling an impregnable fort with the help of his pet monitor lizard. Devgn is also producing the television biopic Swami Ramdev: Ek Sangharsh for the Discovery Jeet channel, starring Naman Jain in the role of the young Ramdev.
In a video message, Devgn said, “…my relationship with Maharashtra is since my childhood but the relationship and respect grew stronger for the culture and language after getting married to Kajol. For the same reason, Marathi industry has a different status altogether and to connect with the same culture, I am getting my first Marathi venture Aapla Manus, to release on February 9.”
