Majid Majidi’s trademark emotional intensity shines through in the trailer of Beyond The Clouds, the acclaimed Iranian filmmaker’s Indian production which is scheduled to release in theatres on March 23. The trailer has been made to suit Bollywood-loving Indian audiences, with a foot-tapping background score and a dramatic confrontation conducted at knife-point.
Tara (Malavika Mohanan) winds up in jail after she helps her brother Amir (Ishaan Khatter) hide a package that he hopes will be the ticket to a better life. As the trailer travels to Mumbai’ slums and the city’s numerous by-lanes, prisons and hospitals, Tara’s fear and Amir’s desperation are brought into sharp focus. Almost every moment in the trailer is punctuated by AR Rahman’s soundtrack. The movie has been made in English, Hindi and Tamil.
Co-written by Majidi and Mehran Kashani, Beyond The Clouds also features Gautam Ghose, GV Sharada, Dhwani Rajesh, Amruta Santosh Thakur and Shivam Pujari. The Hindi dialogues for the film have been written by Vishal Bharadwaj.
Produced By Zee Studios and Namah Pictures, Beyond The Clouds was premiered at the BFI Film Festival in London in October 2017. It was screened during the International Film Festival of India, Goa, in November.
