Filmmaker Gautham Menon and R Madhavan will reunite after 15 years for the sequel to Menon’s 2010 romantic drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, the director told entertainment portal Film Companion. The sequel, titled Ondraga, will feature Madhavan, Tovino Thomas and Puneeth Rajkumar. Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia are likely to be part of the film.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa depicts the complicated relationship between Karthik (Silambarasan) and Jessie (Trisha). It is one of Menon’s best-loved films, and boasts of a brilliant soundtrack by AR Rahman. Ondraga is set eight years after the events of the first film, and narrates the story of Karthik and his four friends who travel to the United States of America to attend a wedding. Madhavan will replace Silambarasan as Karthik.

Menon and Madhavan had previously collaborated for Minnale (2001) and its Hindi version Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001).
