In the trailer for the latest installment of the Predator franchise, upgraded and mutated versions of the lethal beasts are on the prowl.
Shane Black’s The Predator begins with a young boy (Jacob Tremblay) playing with masks and helmets, which triggers an alien spaceship to land on earth. As the predators begin to wreak havoc on the planet, an army specialist (Boyd Holbrook) is asked if he saw anything that might help officials understand the new race, while scientist (Olivia Munn) finds out that they are “attempting hybridisation”, and “upgrading on every planet they come across”. The Predator also stars Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key , Sterling K Brown and Thomas Jane. The movie will be released on September 13.
The Predator is the fourth film in the franchise, which began in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Predator. It was followed by Predator 2 (1990) and The Predators (2010). The events of the latest film take place sometime between the two sequels. The franchise also includes two crossover films Alien vs Predator (2004) and Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (2007).
Black, who had played embattled radio operator named Rick Hawkins in the first film, returns to the franchise. He has previously directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Iron Man 3 (2013) and The Nice Guys (2016).
