Do-gooder Karunakaran (M Sasikumar) is back in Naadodigal 2, the sequel to the Samuthirakani-directed 2009 Tamil hit. The teaser of Naadodigal 2 was released on YouTube on July 2. Samuthirakani has returned to the director’s chair. The film also stars Athulya Ravi and Anjali. A release date has not been announced.
Set in Rajapalayam, Naadodigal was the story of three friends, played by Sasikumar, Bharani and Vijay Vasanth, who fought to unite two lovers against the wishes of their individual families.
The film received positive reviews, became a hit, and was remade in five languages. Among them, the Telugu remake, Shambo Shiva Shambo (2010), starred Ravi Teja in the lead role. Priyadarshan’s Hindi remake, Rangrezz (2013), had Jackky Bhagnani stepping into Sasikumar’s shoes.
