Chris Pine is intense and anguished as Scottish warrior Robert The Bruce in the trailer of Netflix’s Outlaw King. Directed by David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water), the historical drama chronicles the former king’s role as the leader of Scotland’s first war of Independence against England, which was fought during the reign of Edward I.
According to the official synopsis, Outlaw King depicts the Scottish warrior’s transformation from “defeated nobleman, to reluctant King, to outlaw hero over the course of an extraordinary year”. Pine’s character tells his army in a fiery speech, “You can fight for God, for country, for family. I do not care, so long as you fight!”
The cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Pugh, Billy Howle, Tony Curran, Stephen Dillane, James Cosmo and Sam Spruell. Outlaw King will be premiered at the opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6. It will be released on Netflix and in selected theatres in the United States of America on November 9.
