Hillary Clinton, Democratic frontrunner for the US presidential nominations, former Secretary of State, and champion of queer rights.

A video released on her Youtube channel strengthens her position on gay rights, with her speeches promising support providing the backdrop to visuals of same sex couples in moments of intimacy.

Even after the US Supreme Court legalised same sex marriage, the depiction of intimacy between such couples as part of a mainstream political discourse is rare. The Clinton campaign has already put out two ads earlier this year featuring same sex couples.

Slate.com said of the ad, "Given the distressingly puritanical rules that govern gay PDAs, it’s both impressive and heartening that Clinton includes gay kisses in her official campaign spots."

"The ad forces viewers to confront images that might make them feel slightly uneasy, then encourages them to view such affection as a normal, healthy manifestation of adult intimacy," the article adds.

A 2011 speech that Clinton gave in Geneva where she said "Human rights are gay rights and gay rights are human rights" is the leitmotif of the advertisement. It ends with a more recent speech by her where she says: ‘It’s outrageous that in 2015 you can still be fired for being gay, you can still lose your home for being gay, you can even be denied a wedding cake for being gay. This kind of discrimination goes against everything we stand for as a country."

Meanwhile, here in India we have Article 377.
