The year in review: watch these stand-up comics replace outrage with rejoicing
The good news of the year was buried beneath the bad, but there were many things to cheer.
Comedy group East India Company which routinely posts "outrage" videos, have come together in the spirit of the season to point at the positives of 2015. Asking everyone to calm down despite the welter of news ranging from the shocking to the tragic, the comedians say, "The year couldn't have been that bad also."
Sample these:
- India's national carrier, and fodder for many jokes, Air India reported operational profitability.- Hindus enabled 13,000 Muslims to offer their Eid prayers in a Ganpati pandal since the two festivals overlapped this year.- Azim Premji donated 40 percent of his shares to develop primary education.- Cochin international airport became completely solar powered.
It's a cheerful reminder of the year that was, alongside the debates over food, intolerance, lynching and political bitterness. The end of one year and the beginning of another is not a bad time to acknowledge the good in the world.
