There's something beautiful about watching South African leg spinner Imran Tahir. That unrestrained celebration at taking a wicket, the sheer enjoyment of what he does – it's a sight which cricket doesn't see often.

Tahir wears his hearts on his sleeves and on Wednesday, his delight knew no bounds when he carved out a place for himself in South African cricket history by picking up 7/45 against West Indies at St Kitts, the best ODI returns by a South African bowler, and the eighth best overall.

The South African's feat was even more impressive considering the pitch was a far better batting surface than the previous ones in this series. South Africa racked up 343/4, thanks to a century from Hashim Amla. And when it was their turn to bowl, Tahir who took centre-stage.

Farhaad Behardien helped with his first victim, taking a great catch to dismiss Andre Fletcher. Then Tahir came into his elements, getting one to jump sharply to dismiss Marlon Samuels. A few overs later, the spine of the West Indies batting was destroyed as the leg-spinner had Jason Holder leg-before-wicket, Carlos Brathwaite playing all around a googly to get bowled and Kieron Pollard holing out, all in one over.

The celebrations were in full flow but Tahir wasn't done just yet - he took out the last two wickets in the West Indies tail to finish with a seven-wicket haul. A bowling performance for the ages.

And when you're done admiring him, do have a look at Amla's century, a typically wristy and refined knock from the South African opener.
