Videos: In the absurdity of the US presidential elections, comics have become the voice of reason
Donald Trump said THAT about his life with women. Here's what John Oliver and Noah Trevor had to say.
In America, has it really happened till the talk show hosts have acknowledged it happened?
The big story in the US Presidential debate is still the leaked tape of Republican nominee Donald Trump suggesting that the best part about being rich was that he could molest women. When asked about this in the second Presidential debate with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, he called it "locker room talk" and said that he would blow up ISIS.
Members of his own party, President Barack Obama, and actor Robert DeNiro, among others, have condemned these remarks. But that's not as important as what Last Week Tonight's host John Oliver had to say, right?
"Last Sunday, if I told you, you looked above the clouds, you would see rock bottom. But if you look up there now, way way up there, all the way up high, you will see right up in the distance – where we were this time last week. Because since then, we have sunk so low, we are breaking through the Earth's crust where drowning in boiling magma will come a sweet-sweet relief."
"We have to admit this. Trump has officially broken almost every record for scumbagg-ery in politics," said the The Daily Show's Trevor Noah before analysing every aspect of the leaked video. "Trump can try to excuse his behaviour by calling it locker room talk, but you realise he wasn't in a locker room."
Commenting on that fact that Billy Bush, the television personality also on the leaked tape, was fired following the scandal, Noah said, "Welcome to the 2016 presidential election. If you are on TV and you say something that offends the nation, you're going to lose your job, but don't worry you can still run for president."
Satirist and host of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert offered a reaction video to the scandal. "All the tic tacs in the world will not freshen his breath after this." Pictures tell the story better than words:
Colbert's final take? "Here's what I really found disgusting. Trump says in the video, 'When you are a star, they let you get away with everything.' And unfortunately that's true. Because Donald Trump is the Republican nominee and hopefully someday he'll be telling the story of how he tried to f**k America and failed."
