A mid-size SUV driving on the wrong side of the road finds an intrepid motorcyclist blocking its way. Unable to believe he cannot drive wherever he pleases, never mind traffic rules, the driver tries to intimidate the young man on the motorcycle – first by driving his vehicle at him, then by taking a photograph of his number plate, and finally by beating him up.

This was not a film shoot – it happened in real life in Bhopal. And the footage, captured on CCTV, went viral as the horrible behaviour of the car driver and the courage of the resolute motorcyclist, identified as Sahil Batav, went on view for everyone. Sadly, and not unusually, passers-by watched for a long while before some of them finally intervened.

The good news: the assaulting driver has been taken into police custody and an FIR has been launched against him.
