Watch: Father of student killed in Florida school shooting delivers an emotional speech to Trump
‘We as a country failed our children.’
One week after the horrific school shooting in Florida that left 17 dead and several others injured, the White House arranged a listening session where President Donald Trump heard as teachers, students and parents delivered emotional appeals for stronger laws on gun control.
ABC News tweeted the video above, showing the father of one of the students who was shot dead. “We as a country failed our children”, he says, as he recalls his daughter being shot nine times. Appealing for forces to unite to take on this matter, he says, “Mr President, we’re going to fix it.”
Teenage students of Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, joined subsequently by students of schools around the US, have held town halls, delivered searing speeches, conducted walk-outs, protested outside the White House, and even directly challenged the NRA.
