Watch: This 10-year-old Ghanaian DJ is turning heads across the world
Erica Tandoh, who goes by the name DJ Switch, has become the youngest DJ ever to win at Ghana’s annual DJ Awards.
Erica Tandoh is not your ordinary 10-year-old. Sure, she loves going to school, which makes her an unusual already. But what really sets the Ghanaian girl apart from her peers is that she started disc-jockeying last year. “I just wanted to try my hand at it,” she told BBC in a video interview (above) that has gone viral online.
Thus was born the young and talented DJ Switch, who in May became the youngest person to win at Ghana’s annual DJ Awards. Tandoh explained to BBC that she picked the name DJ Switch “because I switch up people’s happiness.”
Of course, DJ Switch still needs to stand on a box to reach her console, but that doesn’t stop the crowds from grooving to her music. She even released a song and music video (below) called Deceiver already, which she filmed and sang with her mother.
That’s not it for Tandoh. She has bigger plans. She told BBC, “DJing is my passion, but I want to be a gynaecologist because I want to help women.”
