One hour 58 minutes – that’s the time it took to transport a heart from Indore to Mumbai, covering a distance of almost 550 kilometres. It was the penultimate act in a series of events that began with coordination over a messaging application, WhatsApp, and ended with the heart being successfully transplanted into a 16-year-old girl in Mumbai.
In this episode of The Intersection, Padmaparna Ghosh and Samanth Suramanian tell the story of how one band of volunteers are helping organise heart transplants across India.
