SSC paper leak: Aspirants clash with police; many detained
Aspirants reiterated their demand for an SC-monitored CBI probe
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) aspirants clashed with police on Saturday at Janpath in New Delhi demanding a Supreme Court-monitored probe over the allegations of paper leak of Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier II examination. Around 3000 aspirants participated in the demonstration and around 200 of them were detained by the police.
The protest started with a demand of a written assurance by 3 pm or the demonstrators will start a march to Department of Personnel Training (DoPT) office.
A senior police inspector said that the aspirants were demonstrating near Parliament Street police station but at around 3 pm they started to move towards the Parliament. The protesters managed to disrupt traffic at Lutyens’ Delhi for over 2 hours when police managed to disperse them and around 200 protesters were detained.
Some aspirants claimed that the leak has increased after the examination went online. Aspirants also demanded that government should provide adequate jobs for the youth.
The government has ordered a CBI probe over the allegations and CBI has started a preliminary enquiry.
