The Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) declared the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or Class 12 2018 merit list and other statistics related to the examination on Monday. The marks of the exam are expected to be uploaded on the board’s official website (pseb.ac.in) by the evening of April 23rd.

According to the Indian Express, the results were expected to be released on April 28th but the board decided to declare the results earlier. A total of 3,00,417 students appeared for the exam and 1,98,199 passed – an overall pass percentage of 65.97%. This is an improvement compared to 2017, where only 62.36% of students had managed to pass.

Indian Express also reports that this year, for the first time, the board had abolished the marks moderation system, under which grace marks were allotted to students to improve their final score. And this possibly could have resulted in a higher pass percentage.

Most of the students in the top 10 list are from Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana. But the top two positions have been bagged by Prachi Gaur and Pushwinder Kaur from BCM Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana.

The board will release the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or Class 10 results sometime in the month of May.
