The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has issued a notification relating to the COMEDK 2018 counselling dates. The COMEDK has clarified that the counselling process dates are yet to be finalized.

Several news outlets had reported that the counselling might begin from July 4th, but the consortium has termed this incorrect. The exact dates for the COMEDK counselling have not yet been revealed on the official website and the counselling dates are expected to be “notified shortly”.

The COMEDK notification clarifying that counselling dates have not yet been decided upon states that the seat matrix and fee structure are yet to be finalized between the Government and Private Professional Colleges, and once this is done, the COMEDK will likely decide on the 2018 counselling dates.

Meanwhile, the COMEDK has released information on the counselling process and students are expected to carry with them the following documents at the time of counselling:

  • COMEDK rank card
  • COMEDK application form  
  • COMEDK TAT
  • Candidate’s ID proof
  • ID proof of parents/guardian
  • Proof of date of birth
  • 12th mark sheet
  • Other community certificate if applying for quota seats

Candidates will have to register for the counselling process at the official website, comedk.org, once the process begins. The results and rank cards for the COMEDK 2018 were released on May 27th. The first rank was bagged by Durbha Aditya of National Public School, Bengaluru, who scored 168 marks out of 180. The second and third ranks were also secured by candidates from Bengaluru.

It was reported earlier that only 284 candidates from Karnataka featured in top 1,000 ranks with almost three-fourth of rank holders coming from other states. Forty-two candidates out of top 100 ranks are from Karnataka, though.

COMEDK conducts the annual UGET entrance exam for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the member institutions and also organises the single-window counselling process. This year, the exam was conducted in the online mode at 291 centres in 137 cities across the country.
