Nokia’s second smartphone in the brand’s X series, the Nokia X5, has finally been launched by HMD Global in China. The phone was scheduled for a China unveiling on July 11th, but the Nokia X5 launch was cancelled after some last minute issues at the venue.

The smartphone packs strong design elements and solid specifications similar to the Nokia X6, which was launched earlier, but is positioned at a lower price point. It boasts of a dual rear camera setup stacked vertically and a display notch, and it runs on pure Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

HMD Global’s mid-range offering will be available in two variants: one that has 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage, and another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage.

The Nokia X5 price has also been revealed for China. Registrations for the 3GB/32GB model have already begun on Suning.com, one of the largest private retailers in China, and the phone is available for a price of 999 yuan, which is roughly around Rs.10,200.

Nokia is marketing the X5 as an “all-round experience” on its official website, and the phone retains the display notch seen on the Nokia X6.

It also gets a double-sided glass body with an integrated polycarbonate frame, along with a powerful 3,060mAh battery, which the company claims can sustain 11 hours of ‘video playback’ on a 4G network.

The Nokia X5 is available in three colours; viz, extreme night black, glacier white, and baltic sea blue, flaunting the Nordic origins of the phone. It is expected to be launched globally as the Nokia 5.1, although a global release date for the Nokia X5 has not been disclosed by the company.
