Anna University’s Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) 2018 admission process started on July 21st, when the institute began accepting payment for the first round of counselling. The entire TNEA counselling process is scheduled to conclude on August 24th.

The last date to make the fee payment to participate in the first round of counselling is July 24th. Candidates will be able to lock their choice of seats from July 25th until July 27th. Publication of tentative allotment for the first round of TNEA counselling will be done on August 28th, with the final publication on August 30th. Candidates who are eligible to take admission based on the allotment results will have to report on or before August 3rd for the first round.

The TNEA counselling is scheduled to be held in five rounds, the details of which can be accessed at the following link. The first round of counselling is for candidates with aggregate marks of 190 and above; the second round is for those who have scored 175 and above; the third round is set aside for 150 and above; the fourth round will include those who have scored 125 and above; and the fifth round is for all remaining eligible candidates.

According to the TNEA notification for the first round of 2018 counselling, candidates applying in the general category have to pay an initial deposit of Rs.5,000, while Tamil Nadu SC/SCA/ST candidates the fee is Rs.1,000. The payment can be made online via the TNEA portal or via a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Anna University.

The process of choice locking must also be done via the TNEA portal, the first round for which begins on July 25th. Applicants have no limitations on the number of choices that can be entered into the TNEA portal, but once the choices are locked it cannot be unlocked.

Anna University had released the TNEA merit list on June 29th. In the state of Tamil Nadu, 571 participating engineering institutions grant admissions to first year BE/BTech degree courses under Anna University via the TNEA merit list.
