The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published an official notification for the recruitment of 54,953 vacancies for GD Constable on its website. Intimation for the vacancies was previously given in the latest edition of Employment Newspaper on July 20th.

The Commission was expected to start online applications from July 21st, but due to launch of the new SSC website and technical difficulties surrounding the new website launch, it postponed the start date to July 24th. However, the SSC website witnessed no activity on July 24th and the there is no word from the Commission as to when the application process will begin.

Candidates who want to apply for the positions will have to visit the official SSC website, ssc.nic.in, or ssconline.nic.in. The last date to apply for the GD Constable positions had also been postponed and now candidates can apply up to 5 p.m. on August 24th.

Candidates interested in applying must have passed at least 10th class to be eligible to apply. The minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum is 23 years. There are relaxations in the maximum age limit for candidates from reserved categories. The notification details other eligibility criteria that candidates must fulfill in order to apply.

How to apply for SSC GD Constable 2018 recruitment

  1. Log on to the official SSC website
  2. Click on the ‘Apply’ tab.
  3. Click on the ‘Constable-GD’ section.
  4. Follow the instructions, pay an application fee of Rs.100, and submit your application.

The commission, through this GD constable recruitment drive, will fill up posts of Constables in BSF, ITBPF, CRPF, NIA, SSB and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and CISF across the country. Candidates will have to go through a physical examination, a written examination and a medical test as part of the SSC GD constable recruitment process.

The latest notification has elaborate details on the physical examination phase. The written exam phase will be a 100-mark objective-type question paper testing candidates’ proficiency in general intelligence and reasoning, general knowledge and awareness, mathematics, and language.

The Commission has instructed candidates to apply on the new website and has asked all the candidates who had previously applied to register again. Old IDs and passwords, if any, will not work on the new website.

One-time registration will need a mobile number for OTP, an email ID for verification, a photo ID, information on 10th class results, and a scanned copy of a passport size photograph, among others. The detailed requirements for the new registration can be accessed in the new notification.
