Huawei’s sub-brand Honor will be launching a gaming-centric smartphone, dubbed the Honor Play, in India on August 6th. This information comes our way as Amazon India recently posted details of the phone as an Amazon exclusive teaser.

This comes immediately after the launch of its budget smartphone, the Honor 9N, and it would seem that the company is looking to tap into budget-conscious buyers and attract ‘gamer’ audience as well.

The Honor Play, which was launched in China in June this year, will be an Amazon India exclusive, as per the listing on the e-commerce platform. It is one of the first phones to feature Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology, which as per company claims boosts overall performance by a considerable margin and also reduces power consumption. The Honor Play is advertised as ‘crazy fast, crazy smart’ and aimed at gaming enthusiasts.

The dual-SIM (nano) Honor Play runs EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1. The smartphone sports a 6.3-inch full-HD+ and is powered by the octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC along with Mali-G72 GPU. The built-in NPU (neural processor unit) offers AI assistant to enable an intelligent and smart user experience, Honor claims.

No details regarding the price, variants or colour options of the Honor Play have been revealed yet, but in China, the Honor Play is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs.21,000) for the 4GB RAM variant. For the 6GB RAM model, it’s priced it at CNY 2,399 (roughly Rs.25,100). Interested buyers can choose to be notified about latest information on the Honor Play on Amazon India.
