Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has decided to withhold the application process for the recruitment of around 55,000 GD constable positions on July 28th at 8 pm. The Commission will resume the application process from August 17th at 10 am. The last date to apply has also been extended and now the candidates can apply until September 17th, 5 pm.

The official notification for the recruitment drive was first published on the Employment Newspaper on July 20th. The Commission was supposed to start seeking applications from July 21st but due to the launch of the new SSC website and technical difficulties surrounding that, the start date was postponed to July 25th.

In a notification that was released on Saturday, July 28th, the Commission said, “Due to very heavy load of applications, the new website of the Commission has become very slow and candidates are facing problems in One-Time Registration and submission of online applications. To mitigate the inconvenience caused to candidates, it has been decided to temporarily withhold receiving online applications for the said examination w.e.f. 28-07-2018 (8 PM) for a period of 20 days.”

The Commission also said that the candidates who have already registered do not need to register again and their application data is secure.

The Commission, through this recruitment drive, will fill up 54,953 positions of Constables in BSF, ITBPF, CRPF, NIA, SSB and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and CISF across the country. The candidates will have to go through a physical examination, a written examination and a medical test as part of the recruitment process.

The candidates who are interested in applying need to be at least 10th class pass to be eligible to apply. The minimum age limit of the candidates should be 18 years old and the maximum limit is 23 years old. There are relaxations in maximum age limit for candidates from reserved categories.
