South Korean giant Samsung has introduced a new mid-range smartphone in India, the Galaxy On8 and revealed a price for India. The Galaxy On8, which is a successor to the On8 launched in 2016, was announced as an online exclusive and will be available on Flipkart and the Samsung Online Shop. It is listed on Flipkart for a starting price of Rs.16,990, discounted from an MRP of Rs.19,990.

What stands out about the latest offering from Samsung’s arsenal is the big 6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display and dual camera set up on the back of the Galaxy On8. The phone will be available from August 6th.

Apart from the 6-inch HD+ super AMOLED Infinity display, the Samsung Galaxy On8 features a stunning camera equipped with host of custom effects. There is a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera at the rear. On the front, the new Galaxy On8 features a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

With Galaxy On8, we have emphasized more on the camera, which is one of the most used features by millennials today,” India Today quoted Sandeep Singh Arora, Vice President of Online Business at Samsung India, as saying.

Additionally, the Samsung On8 gets the unique “Chat Over Video” feature, which allows users to chat simultaneously while on a video call, eliminating the earlier trouble of video pausing interruptions. The smartphone also comes pre-loaded with Samsung Mall, which let users shop by taking a picture of the desired product to get results for the item across popular e-commerce platforms.

With the Galaxy On8, Samsung aims to take on the similar budget phones such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Moto G6, and the recently launched Honor 9N. And, as a part of the launch offer from August 6th, Flipkart has announced exciting offers such as a No Cost EMI and Special Data Offers on the Samsung Galaxy On8.

This dual SIM (nano) Samsung phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. On the software front, the Galaxy On8 runs the latest Android Oreo 8.0 operating system. It is backed by a 3,500mAh battery.
