Yamaha R15 V3 Moto GP edition launched, priced same as regular model
Yamaha pulls a positive surprise with no price hike on R15 V3, Moto GP edition. Online bookings have opened and only limited units are on offer.
Yamaha Motor India today opened bookings for the Moto GP edition of R15 version 3.0. The Japanese motorcycle had earlier teased the launch of limited edition for its mini-super sport bike in India. With the festive season around the corner, this move from Yamaha seems motivated to boost sales of this affordable fully-faired machine.
The biggest surprise though is the price tag; Yamaha has priced the R15 Version 3.0 MotoGP edition at Rs 1.3 lakh ex-showroom, which is same as the current prices for the motorcycle model, Motoroids reported. The R15 V3 is also available in Thunder Grey and Blue colours. The new colour option has been launched as part of Yamaha’s ‘The Call of the Blue’ campaign. It must be recalled that Yamaha had recently increased the price of R15 version 3 edition by Rs. 2000.
This Moto GP edition draws its inspiration from Moto GP Champion M1 and its younger sibling R1, carrying forward the legacy of racing machines. The model has addition of noticeable YZR M1-inspired racing graphics on the tank, headlight and on the side fairing, golden tuning fork emblem on tank to enhance the aggressive look. There is however no mechanical changes in this upgrade.
This R15 V3.0 limited edition continues to use the same 155cc engine, four-stroke single cylinder SOHC liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Activation (VVA) and Assist and Slipper Clutch. The engine is tuned to develop 19.3 PS of power and 15Nm of torque.
Interested buyers can book the bike online by logging on to Yamaha’s official site. Booking amount of Rs. 10,000 is to be paid at selected dealership in order to confirm the order and this ‘blue beauty’ will be delivered in 40 to 55 days from the date of booking, the official site mentions.
“The launch of ‘The Call of the Blue’ should convey Yamaha customers or any customer of two wheelers about the brand’s commitment to provide highly advanced technology as well as treasuring style through its two wheelers. The launch of new products under the campaign launch will offer exciting experiences put together by the Yamaha uniqueness”, Motoroids, web-based auto news portal, quoted the Chairman of Yamaha Motor India, Mr. Motofumi Shitara saying.
