Just as Kejriwal fever was running through the country, the comedy troupe All India Bakchod decided to make a hilarious video that turned the Aam Aadmi Party chief into a Batman-like superhero, out to battle corruption with a broom and well-timed coughs. The video, titled Nayak 2: the Common Man Rises, featured all the Kejriwal characteristics that have inspired plenty of humour since: the righteousness, the insistence on being “aam” (common), the undercurrent of mob vigilantism, the coughing and, of course, the muffler.
Now, with the Aam Aadmi Party on the back foot as it heads into another set of elections in Delhi, those running the campaign have decided to turn a perceived weakness into a strength. Instead of chafing at the constant jokes about Kejriwal’s sartorial choices, they’ve decided to take ownership of it instead.
Introducing Mufflerman.
In a set of posters and flyers that are being spread all around social media, the AAP’s supporters have begun threatening the retain of the Mufflerman who will fight all the “corrupts.” Borrowing liberally from superhero imagery, Kejriwal has been turned into a crimefighter who the establishment is out to get.
