Delhi: Centre trying to distract from Swaraj row, says AAP
Reports claim that the Delhi Police will charge sheet 21 members of the Aam Aadmi Party who have been elected to the state's Legislative Assembly. It is believed that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, against whom three criminal cases were registered in various police stations of the capital, will also be charged. A total of 48 cases are registered against party MLAs, of which 20 cases are awaiting trial, while 24 are under investigation. AAP responded to the news by saying that the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre was using the issue to divert attention from the Sushma Swaraj-Lalit Modi row. “Delhi Police is acting against us, but what about the BJP leaders with criminal charges against them?” asked AAP leader Sanjay Singh at a press conference held on Wednesday.

Rajasthan: Congress takes to the streets, demanding Raje resignation
The Congress, at an executive committee meeting in Udaipur on Wednesday, demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot asked party workers across the state to take to the streets from Thursday to press for resignations of Raje and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj. These calls for resignations came after it was revealed that Swaraj helped former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi obtain papers to travel to the UK while Raje had supported Modi's bid for immigration to the country. Modi is wanted by the Enforcement Directorate for alleged foreign exchange violations.

Uttar Pradesh: Governor to demand probe into journalist's death
Even as the Allahabad High Court asked the state government to submit a status report concerning the investigation into the death of Shahajahanpur journalist Jagendra Singh, his family members have threatened self-immolation. Singh was allegedly burned to death, after he mounted a campaign against Samajwadi Party member and state minister Ram Murti Verma. Singh's wife, two sons, a daughter, and his father Sumer Singh are on indefinite dharna with their demands since June 14, at Shahjahanpur. In the meantime, opposition parties have approached Governor Ram Naik demanding action against Verma. Naik has promised to speak to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav regarding action against Verma. As of now, the government has only suspended four police officers who allegedly raided Singh’s house and set him on fire.

Maharashtra: ED registers two cases against Bhujbal
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday registered two cases against former Maharashtra Public Works Department minister Chhagan Bhujbal, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. A day after the Nationalist Congress Party leader came under pressure from the state's Anti-Corruption Branch following a series of raids, party chief Sharad Pawar said he would speak about the issue at "an appropriate time". Claiming that he would speak once the investigation was at a later state or he could be accused of making political statements and putting pressure on "investigating machinery" Pawar said he would be irresponsible to make any comment.

Andhra Pradesh: Govt has evidence to put TRS "on the dock", says minister
Even as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti-lead government intensified their investigation into the cash-for-vote scam, the Telugu Desam Party claimed they would take forward an investigation into the alleged tapping of phones of 120 TDP MLAs, by the Telangana government, Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao said on Wednesday. Adding that the TDP would not be "cowed down by blackmailing tactics" of the TRS government, he said the TDP will go on a counter-offensive. "The government has evidence to put the TRS in the dock,” he added.
