PHOTOGRAPHY The Deepak Puri Collection: Legacy of Photojournalism at Tarq
This exhibition, put together by Bangalore gallery Tasveer and the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP), an institution being built in that city, comprises 50 images by 30 photographers. The works have been selected from The Deepak Puri Collection: Legacy of Photojournalism, a set of over 150 images donated to MAP by Puri, the former photo editor of Time-Life News Service’s south Asia bureau. DANCE Sindhu: Celebrating Dance at the NCPA Tata Theatre + Ravindra Natya Mandir + Kashinath Ghanekar Sabagruha
This three-day festival of Indian classical dance, organised by Vaibhav Arekar and Sushant Jadhav of the company Sankhya, will be held at three venues across the city. Kathak exponent Aditi Mangaldas and bharatanatyam dancer Vaibhav Arekar and Sankhya will stage solo and group recitals respectively at the National Centre for the Performing Arts’s Tata Theatre on Friday, from 6.30 pm. THEATRE Ananda: Festival Of Hindi Plays at the National Centre for the Performing Arts
This year’s edition of the National Centre for the Performing Arts’s annual Hindi drama festival will feature four plays. Directed by Sarita Hussain, Surajmukhi aur Hamlet is based on Jean Anouilh’s absurdist drama Episode in the Life of an Author in which a couple arguing in their study are visited by a stream of people including an ex-soldier, two plumbers and a journalist (on Friday at 7 pm at the Experimental Theatre).
