MS Dhoni has had a eventful last few days. After the recent fire in the team hotel in Delhi, where the Jharkhand team was to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the captain on Sunday filed a police complaint alleging that his three mobile phones were stolen during the fire.
Police said they have received a complaint from the player, who stated that he had left his phones in the hotel room when he had gone for breakfast on March 17, reported PTI. Later, when his staff went to pack his things, the mobile phones were missing, they said.
Dhoni, along with his Jharkhand cricket team, had escaped unhurt after the fire broke out at a five star hotel in Dwarka on Friday. A case has been lodged by the police for the missing phones and some people have been detained, continued the report.
Meanwhile, his team lost in the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Saturday, despite a fifty by the captain, and a miffed Dhoni left the Feroz Shah Kotla separately while the other members of the Jharkhand squad left by team bus after their 41-run loss to Bengal. Dhoni top-scored with a 62-ball 70 but Jharkhand lost wickets in a heap after he was dismissed with the last six wickets falling for 38 runs.
“Yes, Dhoni left in a private car separately after the match. The rest of the Jharkhand boys left by team bus,” a Delhi & District Cricket Association official was quoted as saying by PTI.
While it is not new for international players to travel separately during domestic tournaments, Dhoni has been seen travelling with the team by train and also staying at the team hotel.
Additionally, a Jharkhand player’s kitbag also got misplaced as porter put it on the Bengal team bus. “Yes, the DDCA staff by mistake put a Jharkhand player’s kitbag in Bengal team bus. The kit is in Bengal hotel and will be delivered back to the concerned player,” DDCA media manager Salil Seth said.
