Super Sunday and all that jazz. While one match saw the Sunrisers Hyderabad blow an out-of-sync Gujarat Lions away, the other saw the Kolkata Knight Riders snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against the Mumbai Indians.

Here’s a look at the interesting stats that emerged from Sunday:

KKR vs MI

Slog over madness: Mumbai Indians needed 49 runs to win in the last three overs (18 to 20) — thanks to Hardik Pandya and Nitish Rana they made it. Only one side has scored more runs in the last three overs to win an IPL match while chasing a target. Chennai Super Kings made 52 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bengaluru in 2012.

Feels like hell: Kolkata Knight Riders’ win-percentage against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede is just 14.28 – just one win in seven IPL matches.

Winning? What’s that: Mumbai Indians have beaten Kolkata Knight Riders 14 times in IPL (in just 19 matches) – most wins against a particular side in IPL.

Pandemonium: You thought it would be Pollard but Hardik Pandya has been just as dangerous. In two matches, he has scored 64 runs without being dismissed at a crazy strike-rate of 246.15.

SRH vs GL

Unstoppable: David Warner’s batting average against Gujarat Lions is an incredible 267.00. His scores in the four matches against them – 74*, 24, 93* and 76*.

Captain fantastic: David Warner’s batting average as captain in IPL is 51.60 – highest for any player scoring 500 or more runs as captain in IPL. He has clearly been doing his job as a batsman and the bowlers love him too.

Big losers: No team had lost two consecutive IPL matches by 9 wickets or more before Gujarat Lions suffered this fate on Sunday. They had lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 wickets in their first match and then by 9 wickets to SRH.
