It was a Saturday evening of goals as Bengaluru FC and Churchill Brothers smashed one in after the other against their respective opponents. Bengaluru FC got to their biggest ever win, beating DSK Shivajians 7-0 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru while Churchill Brothers hammered Chennai City FC 6-1 in Goa.
Sunil Chhetri stars in Bengaluru’s onslaught
Sunil Chhetri was the star of Bengaluru’s evening scoring the opening goal in the 20th minute. Alwyn George, Eugneson Lyngdoh and Len Doungel added more and Bengaluru were already 4-0 up by half-time.
Bengaluru FC kept the pressure on as Chhetri added his second of the night before CK Vineeth and Sandesh Jhingan completed Bengaluru FC’s domination. The star was Chhetri with two goals and four assists.
Churchill make short work of Chennai
Over in Goa, it was Kyrgyzstan’s Bektur Uulu who led the show for Churchill Brothers, scoring four goals as they ran out 6-1 winners over Chennai City FC.
In a match of two halves, the first half was tense as Uulu scored once in the 22nd minute to give Churchill a slender 1-0 lead. Chennai came roaring back in the match with Soosai Raj levelling scores in the 54th minute.
But having defender Anyichie Celestin sent off, Chennai crashed as Uulu scored in the 67th and 81st minutes with Ghanefo Kromah scoring in between, to have them 4-1 up.
Uulu completed a hat-trick in the 84th minute and Brandon Fernandes also got on the scoresheet in the 90th minute as Churchill completed a comprehensive win.
