The limited-overs leg of Sri Lanka’s tour to India could not have begun on a better note for the visitors as they reduced India to 112 all out in 38.2 overs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the top-scorer with 65 runs, provided the only resistance as a Virat Kohli-less India stumbled against the moving ball.
At on point, it didn’t look India could make it past their record lowest total of 54 runs, let alone 100 runs. But with the score on 29 for 7, Dhoni got into a stand with Kuldeep Yadav to stitch together a crucial partnership of 41 to steer India away from the ignominy.
However, India still broke a slew of unfortunate records with their miserable batting performance.
Here’s a look at all the numbers, the criticism and finally, the many jokes on India’s dramatic collapse at Dharamsala.
Records galore... but not of the good kind

Praise for Sri Lanka... But not so much for India
Indian in tatters when ball is swinging and seaming. Ominous with tour of SA just weeks away

SL seamers forcing Indian batsmen to play virtually every delivery is also one reason why India is in dire straits. Well done SL! 👏👏👏#IndvSL

Rohit 'said' he wanted to bat first, and India is playing two spinners. Shows how well this team management reads the pitches and conditions.

This is unfair. BCCI has given Sri Lanka undue advantage by playing in Dharamshala. Indian lungs are not used to so much oxygen.

11-3 off 10 overs. There hasn’t been an Indian batting effort this exciting since Gavaskar scored 36 not out from 174 balls at the 1975 World Cup.
