Abhishek Verma had a mixed outing on the final day of the Compound category in the Archery World Cup in Salt Lake as he clinched an individual silver and a mixed team bronze on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who had shot a perfect 150 in his semi-final win over Anton Bulaev of Russia, could not recreate the same magic and was probably done in by the windy conditions as he lost the men’s final 127-140 to world number one and 2015 world champion Stephan Hansen of Denmark.

Verma managed just two perfect 10s in the final and even missed one shot completely in the third series, making it difficult for him to mount any considerable challenge for the gold medal against the consistent Hansen.

Earlier in the day, Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam had teamed up to bag the mixed team bronze with a 147-140 win over USA team of Jamie van Natta and Kris Schaff.

The Indian combination took the lead in the second series and maintained that momentum to win the play-off with seven points.

India’s Dipika Kumari will have a shot at a gold medal in the recurve category on Sunday when she takes on Germany’s Michelle Kroppen on Sunday. Kumari and Atanu Das would also be competing in the bronze medal play-off in the mixed team category.
