Government to issue notice to Volkswagen for differing emission results
On-road tests showed the levels for three models varied from those provided by the company.
The Union government on Wednesday will issue a show cause notice to Volkswagen to clarify emission levels from its vehicles, said Ambuj Sharma, Additional Secretary in the heavy industries ministry. Testing agency Automotive Research Association of India found that three on-road models showed a variation in emission levels when compared with data from Volkswagen's own laboratory tests.
A report in The Indian Express says the three models are Jetta, Audi A4 and Vento. The company is also likely to recall 1 lakh vehicles in India, though Volkswagen officials have not commented on the issue yet.
