Copenhagen Airport terminal reopened following bomb scare
No flights were cancelled as departures and arrivals were moved to other terminals.
The Danish police have called off a terror threat at the main terminal of the Copenhagen Airport, which was evacuated on Wednesday due to a “suspicious bag”. The police said on Twitter that the terror threat was sparked after someone overheard a conversation about a bomb" at the terminal. No flights were cancelled as departures and arrivals were moved to other terminals of the Nordic region's largest airport, reported Reuters.
Earlier, Terminal 3 and the airport’s metro station were closed off as people were evacuated following the terror threat, reported The Independent. Television footage showed bomb experts, fire trucks and police outside the terminal building.
This follows multiple incidents of terror alerts being sparked on flights and international events in the wake of the Paris attacks on Friday. On Tuesday, two Air France flights flying from the United States to Paris were diverted to airfields in Utah and Canada due to anonymous bomb threats. Two international football matches were also called off on Tuesday due to terror alerts. On Saturday, a terminal of London's Gatwick Airport was evacuated following the discovery of a firearm in a bin. A French national was arrested in the case.
