Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming was on Monday named chief coach of the new Pune franchise of the Indian Premier League, reported PTI. Fleming, 42, was earlier the coach of the now-banned Chennai Super Kings franchise. The team won two IPL titles and as Champions League Twenty20 trophies under him.

Fleming will renew his successful partnership with Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was also picked by Pune in the player draft. The new franchise also bought other top international cricketers such as Ravichandran Ashwin, Faf du Plessis, Ajinkya Rahane and Steven Smith.

Pune and Rajkot are the two new teams in place of CSK and Rajasthan Royals, who were suspended for two years by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM Lodha panel for being invovled in the 2013 spot-fixing scandal.
