Canadian World No 14 Milos Raonic registered an epic five-set victory over fourth seed Stanislas Wawrinka at the Australian Open on Monday, the biggest seed to fall in the tournament so far. The final score read 6-4 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-3. Raonic continued his giant-killing ways, having beaten Roger Federer in the final of the Brisbane International earlier this month.

On Monday, Raonic breezed through the first two sets 6-4 6-3 and looked set to win early. But Wawrinka dug deep and pulled out his best in the next two sets, winning 7-5 6-4 and putting himself on even terms.

It all boiled down to the last set. Raonic finally managed to break Wawrinka and get to a 5-2 lead. The Swiss came back to make it 5-3, but Raonic held his own and managed to dig out a huge win. Raonic now faces World No 25 Gael Monfils of France in the quarterfinals.
