The Kerala High Court on Friday stayed the FIR filed agianst Chief Minister Oomen Chandy for two months. Former Kerala Chief Minister AK Antony and Congress state chief Mukul Wasnik met party head Sonia Gandhi on Thursday, after a vigilance court ordered for an FIR to be filed against Chandy.

The 72-year-old is embroiled in a solar energy scam worth crores of rupees, with one of the accused, Saritha Nair, telling an investigative judicial commission on Thursday that she paid him a bribe of Rs 1.9 crore. Co-accused in the case, Biju Radhakrishnan, in December told the commission he paid up to Rs 5.5 crore to Chandy.

Chandy has denied all allegations, while the opposition and protesters have demanded his resignation. The Indian Express reported he said, “If there is an iota of substance in the allegations, I will quit public life”.

Nair and Radhakrishnan are both accused in a solar energy case, where they reportedly cheated investors of crores of rupees. Oommen Chandy and other Congress ministers have been named in it, though Chandy sacked the only three state Congress leaders he claims were linked to the scam.
