ICC World T20: Pakistan government still to approve team playing in India
The Pakistan Cricket Board said the possibility of holding its matches at neutral venues will be considered if the requisite clearance did not come through.
The Pakistan cricket team's participation in the upcoming World Twenty20 scheduled to be held in India is in doubt after the country's cricket board chairman Shaharyar Khan said the government has not yet given its approval. Khan said the Pakistan Cricket Board has informed the International Cricket Council that the decision has to be taken by the government whether there is a specific security threat for the team while playing in India, reported Wisden India.
The PCB chairman also said the possibility of holding Pakistan's matches at neutral venues such as Doha, Sharjah and Colombo will also be considered, if the requisite government clearance did not come through to play in India. Pakistan are in Group B in the World T20 and are scheduled to play at Kolkata, Dharamsala (against India) and Mohali.
