West Indies booked their place in the semi-finals with an exciting three wicket victory over South Africa in Nagpur on Friday. West Indies chased down South Africa's 122/8 in the last over with two balls and three wickets to spare.

It was a difficult pitch to bat on and South Africa got off to the worst possible start after being put in to bat, slumping to 47/5. AB de Villiers was the only batsman other than Quinton de Kock who got to double figures in South Africa's top five but was bowled for only 10. However de Kock (47 off 46 balls) and David Wiese (28 off 26) saved South Africa the blushes getting them to 122. For West Indies, Andre Russell, Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo picked up two wickets each.

Chris Gayle was dismissed off only the second ball he faced, much to the crowd's disappointment but West Indies soldiered on. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, they remained in touch with the asking run rate and looked like they would easily win. However a late collapse gave South Africa some hope as West Indies entered the last over, requiring nine runs to win. Carlos Brathwaite hit a six and four to take his team to the semi-finals.
