Republican frontrunner Donald Trump dominated Tuesday's Northeastern GOP primaries as he swept all five states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, reported The New York Times. Democrat Hillary Clinton was the winner in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland and Delaware inching closer to securing the party nomination for the Oval office. However, her clean sweep fell short as rival Bernie Sanders claimed a victory in Rhode Island.

Trump won 55% to 60% of the votes in some states. “When the boxer knocks out the other boxer, you don’t have to wait around for a decision,” the New York businessman told his supporters from the Trump Tower. His rivals, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Governor John Kasich of Ohio, fared extremely poorly and might lose most of the 118 bound delegates in the Northeast. In Rhode Island, while Trump earned 65%, with 84% of precincts reporting, Kasich earned 24% and Cruz got 10%.
