IVF helps 72-year-old Indian woman have her first baby
After two failed treatment cycles at a Haryana clinic, Daljinder Kaur became pregnant last year.
A 72-year-old woman, Daljinder Kaur, gave birth to a healthy baby in April after going through two years of in vitro fertilisation treatment. Kaur delivered her son Armaan Singh on April 19, 46 years after first getting married to her husband Mohinder Singh Gill and 20 years after menopause, Hindustan Times reported. She underwent treatment at the National Fertility Centre in Haryana, which offers fertility treatment for women decades into their menopause. Kaur reportedly used donor eggs and gave birth via a caesarean section.
Kaur appears to be the world’s oldest mother, as the record was held by 70-year-old Haryana woman Rajo Devi, who gave birth in 2008, The Times of India said.
