Two terrorists, including a top Jaish commander, killed in Srinagar encounter
Police conducted the operation on the basis of a tip-off, but they clarified that it was unrelated to the twin attacks launched by militants earlier in the day.
A senior Jaish-e-Mohammed commander has been killed in an encounter that ensued hours after Monday's twin terror attacks in Srinagar, reported NDTV. The two incidents, however, were unrelated, police said. A second terrorist was also killed in the encounter that took place in uptown Srinagar. "Yes, two terrorists were killed at Saraibal. One of them is Saifullah, a Jaish commander in Kashmir," said Javid Gilani, Inspector General of Police.
The encounter was carried out on the basis of a tip off that they were in the area.
The terror attacks in the city claimed the lives of three policemen on Monday. A group of unidentified assailants launched an attack outside Zadibal police station in Srinagar, leaving two officers dead. Another police official died after militants shot him near Tengpora, Batamaloo a few hours later.
