Militants gun down two policemen in Anantnag, Kashmir
Five people have been killed in the district in the last 24 hours.
Two policemen were shot dead on Saturday when militants opened fire at General Bus Stand in Anantnag town in Kashmir, which is gearing up for the upcoming by-election this month, reported PTI. The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector Bashir Ahmad and a constable, Reyaz Ahmad.
This is the second attack in the last 24 hours in the district. On Friday, three Border Security Force jawans were killed and many others injured as militants ambushed a convoy in Bijbehara town.
Anantnag will have its by-election on June 22. There are nine candidates in the fray, including Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
