Doesn't matter what Arun Jaitley says, I talk to the PM: Subramanian Swamy
The BJP leader took a dig at the finance minister while shifting his attack from Arvind Subramanian to Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday took a dig at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and said, "Jaitleyji kya bole, kya nahi bole iss se mujhe kya lena dena [What do I have to do with what Jaitley said or did not say]. I speak to Prime Minister and the [BJP] party president when required.” He was answering questions regarding Jaitley's support for Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian and Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, reported The Indian Express.
After backing off from his demand for Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian's suspension, Swamy had trained his gun on Das. He took to Twitter and said, “I think there [is] a property deal case pending against him [Das] for assisting PC swallow Mahabalipuram prime locations.” To this, Jaitley came out in support of Das as he did for Subramanian as well. "An unfair and false attack on a disciplined civil servant in the Finance Ministry,” the Union minister had said on Thursday.
To this, Swamy reacted and said, "People giving me unasked for advice of discipline and restraint don't realise that if I disregard discipline there would be a bloodbath", though the veteran politician did not mention Jaitley's name.
In another veiled attack, Swamy criticised Jaitley's choice of clothing after newspapers published his photos in a lounge suit at a meeting with the Bank of China Chairman Tian Guoli in Beijing. “BJP should direct our ministers to wear traditional and modernised Indian clothes while abroad. In coat and tie they look like waiters,” the BJP leader tweeted.
Swamy had attacked Subramanian only days after he severely criticised Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan, who on June 18 announced that he will not take a second term after his tenure ends on September 4.
