Kashmir not an internal matter of India, says Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, reiterating plebiscite call
Meanwhile, Pakistan observed 'Black Day' as an expression of solidarity for people of the Valley.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said Kashmir was not an internal matter of India and that a plebiscite should be held to decide the fate of the Valley. He accused India of committing human rights violations and said that even the United Nations had declared Kashmir a disputed territory, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, Pakistan expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir by observing a 'Black Day' on Wednesday. Rallies and other events were held across the country while officials of the federal and provincial governments sported a black band on duty. According to Hindustan Times, the Pakistan government had also ordered its missions in other countries to hold ceremonies in order to attract the world's attention towards Kashmir.
More than 40 people have been killed in Kashmir ever since clashes erupted after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed on July 8. The Valley has been under curfew for 12 days now.
