Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organisation, which is believed to be behind the July coup attempt in Ankara, has "infiltrated India through associations and schools”, reported PTI. Cavusoglu, who met Union Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday, has asked India to take necessary steps against all such suspected establishments.

The visiting minister told PTI, "In all countries where FETO has a presence, we ask them to take immediate actions to remove them from their territories." External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said Indian security agencies will look into the allegation and consider Turkey’s demand.

On Saturday, Reuters quoted an United States Justice Department official who said the government has decided to send a team of officials to Ankara to discuss the allegations made by the Turkish government against Gülen. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has long been demanding Gülen’s extradition from US. He blamed the Pennsylvania-based Islamic preacher of plotting the coup. On August 5, A Turkey court issued an arrest warrant against Gülen.

On July 15, a section on the Turkish military attempted a coup that left 161 people dead and 1,440 wounded. President Erdogan called the move an "act of treason".
