Syrian forces seize areas in southwest Aleppo, says human rights monitor
Government troops and allies launched an offensive and retook neighbourhoods, including Ramousah locality's Weaponry College and Air Force Technical College.
Forces of the Syrian regime on Sunday seized areas in southwest Aleppo, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, according to Reuters. The Weaponry College and the Air Force Technical College in the Ramousah locality are among the areas on the city's southwestern suburbs that were recaptured after government forces, backed by allies, launched an offensive.
Government troops, supported by Russian airstrikes, have been carrying out a massive offensive in Aleppo in recent months. Fighting in the key city intensified from April 22. The landmark ceasefire agreement that came into force on February 27 is "barely alive", the United Nations said.
