Heavy rain leaves Hyderabad citizens without power, drinking water
Waterlogging, wall collapses and sinkholes were reported from several parts of the city.

Heavy rainfall since Tuesday night has led to flooding in several parts of Hyderabad, including Nizampet, Kukatpally, Alwal, Qutbullapur and Malkajgiri, reported Deccan Chronicle. Private and government schools remained shut on Wednesday in the areas worst hit. The local administration issued alerts for several parts of the city that experienced water logging. Residents took to Twitter and reported power outages and lack of drinking water for the past 13 hours in some part of the Telangana capital.

While Qutbullapur experienced 15.6 mm of rainfall, Ramachandrapuram recorded 30.5 cm of rainfall, Madhapur 24.75 mm, Malkajgiri 57.5 mm and Balanagar 19.25 mm. Other areas that experienced water logging after the heavy downpour include Ganesh Nagar nalla, Ayodhyanagar, Dwarkanagar, Subhash Nagar, Devendra Nagar, Surraram, Chintal, Venkateshwara Nagar, Sudarshan Nagar, Bhagatsinh Nagar and Maruti Nagar. Incidents of wall collapse and sinkholes were reported from several parts in the city.

Kesavaram in Rangareddy district (196.75 mm), Narketpalle in Nalgonda district (165.5 mm), Bandamadharam in Rangareddy district (148.75 mm) and Devarupulla in Warangal (136 mm) received the most rainfall in the state in the past 24 hours.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao spoke to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner Janardhan Reddy and took stock of the situation. The Additional Commissioners of Police of North Zone circle have been directed to ensure fast evacuation of people from buildings that are in a vulnerable condition in the city.
