Nifty crosses 9,300 benchmark for first time ever, following global cues and Reliance rally

The National Stock Exchange Nifty crossed the benchmark of 9,300 for the first time ever following global and Asian cues as well as Reliance Industries Limited’s positive trading session on Tuesday. While Nifty closed at 9,306.60, the BSE Sensex also rose 280 points to settle at 29,943.24.
Banking and financials had a successful day on the Nifty50. Bharti Infratel was the major gainer on the broader indices during Tuesday’s trading session followed by Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hero MotoCorp. Tata Consultancy Services, however, trailed.
On the Sensex, M&M, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hero MotoCorp and Asian Paints led the winners, while TCS, Cipla, GAIL, NTPC and HDFC Bank struggled to stay afloat.
Reliance Industries Limited had a positive day on the stock markets, rising by 2.3% to Rs 1,449.25 after it released its fourth quarter earnings on Monday. Overseas, Asian shares gained following a relief rally in global equities after independent centrist Emmanuel Macron won the first round of the French presidential election.
The rupee was trading at 64.29 against the dollar compared with its close of 64.44 on Monday.
