Singer Kishore Kumar’s ancestral home in Madhya Pradesh might be demolished
The Khandwa Municipal Corporation has issued a notice, asking residents of the dilapidated bungalow to vacate the place.
Civic authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa city on Thursday issued a demolition notice to the owner of singer Kishore Kumar’s ancestral bungalow. “...Its rear portion is in a dilapidated condition and may prove dangerous,” Khandwa Municipal Commissioner JJ Joshi told PTI.
The two-storey bungalow in Khandwa’s Bombay Bazaar area, around 250 km from Bhopal, is nearly a century old. Civic officials have given its residents 24 hours to vacate the place. “Otherwise the corporation will forcibly vacate the house and raze the structure,” read the notice.
Currently, caretaker Sitaram lives in the bungalow. However, custodian Arjun Kumar told the Hindustan Times that a similar demolition notice was issued in 2016 and 2013.
“I agree that the house is in bad shape, but it cannot be a danger to anyone else,” he said. “As it is the rainy season, it is not possible for us to renovate it. Without our permission, they cannot demolish it,” he told the daily.
